Daddy Daughter Bonding!

Today I spent the morning running stair laps at a local park with my dad! "EVERYday is game day" as my coach would say, but who said it couldn't be fun? I not only got one hell of a workout in, but had good bonding time with my dad.  We both pushed eachother to run that extra lap, or go that much faster, yet had a great time doing so! Thank Pear Sports for helping me keep track of my heart rate and recording all the important training info!

Love ya dad!

Putting School on Hold

For anyone who know, the past 2 years I have been trying to manage both going to college and pursuing my snowboarding dreams.  I went to Central Michigan University in pursue of a Dietetics Degree.  I would go to school for the fall semester, and take online classes for the winter semester.  My fall semester I would have up to 21 credits at a time, to outweigh not going for the following semester.  I decided this year that I was going to take a break from school, to add less stress on myself, and to be able to put all of my focus into snowboarding.  Going to Argentina and moving to Colorado in October are things I would not have been able to do if I went to school.  Everyone must make sacrifices in their life, and this is one of the many I have made to follow my dreams!  If I were to be going to school, this would be the weekend I would be moving in; bittersweet feelings! I will miss all my friends at school, but I know that this is the best decision I could have made.

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Well along with thousands of other people, I was nominated for the ALS ice bucket challenge.  My mom and I were both nominated by the same person, therefore we figured we would do the challenge together! I was so excited to not only participate in something that has become so popular over social media and raised to much money, but to also make my own contribution and donate to this cause.  Congrats to the success of the ALS foundation, and thanks for making me dump a bucket of ice water on my head :)

Historic Flooding

Tragedy has struck in my home grounds of Metro Detroit, Michigan within the last 2 days.  Yesterday, August 11, 2014, areas surrounding Detroit experienced record fall rain that resulted in extreme flooding that breaks records.  Water reached heights of 14 feet on many roadways, forcing some drivers to evacuate their cars.  One woman died stuck in the storm, and another women died by drowning in her flooded home. Yes, this post has nothing to do with my snowboarding career, but my heart goes out to all those effected by this devastating flood, for this happened to my neighbors of Metro Detroit.

Going to the bottom of the world

Well it's official... I'll be going to the bottom of the world in just about a month.. literally.

Ushuaia, Argentina is where i'll be headed for 3 weeks in September for a pre-season camp with my coach and a few members from our team! I am so excited to not only get back on snow, but see another part of the world I've never seen before.  That's one major perk of pursuing my passion, I get to visit and see so many beautiful places in the world. Let the countdown begin!!
