Homeward Bound!

It has been an amazing 3 months training in Colorado, as well as Argentina and Austria, but I am so stoked to be headed home (Michigan) tomorrow for a 2 week Christmas break! This is been the longest time I've been away from my parents, and for those who don't already know, I'm a Mommas girl, therefore I cannot WAIT to see her, as well as all my family and friends. My birthday is also in 2 days, pretty excited to be able to celebrate that at home! I've been kicking ass training, and cannot wait for the season to kick off in a little less than one month! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone :)

About Me

My name is Brooke Brewer. I am a 21 year old girl from a small town in Michigan who has lived a life far from normal. Ever since I could remember, I had aspirations to become an athlete in the winter Olympics representing the United States. I grew up in all sorts of sports, ranging from hockey, football (yes I played tackle football with all the guys), basketball, soccer and even volleyball, but snowboarding was the one I wanted to pursue. I dedicated my life to be a professional snowboarder, giving up my social life, high school, my home in Michigan, all to move to Colorado and train & travel with snowboard teams to compete in the event snowboardcross. I was really good it this, in fact I won countless of medals, including a few podiums at big events all over the world. I was able to see the world, travel to amazing places such as Austria, Argentina and Australia. I met some of the most amazing people, who are now life-long friends. But the most important thing I did through my snowboard career, was learn what hard work, determination, passion, sacrifice and hardships were all about. Unfortunately, I experienced an extreme hardship where I had to 'retire' from this sport, because I had a career-ending TBI (traumatic brain injury). Concussions are nothing to mess with, especially when you have had MANY of them, which is why I had to stop pursuing what I loved because of a bad concussion in January of 2016. My life has completely changed, I admit, it is hard to start fresh in a 'new' life, for all I have ever known is my life in snowboarding. But I continue this blog to not only keep my snowboard career alive, but to share with you all my road to recovery as well as my road to building a NEW life. Life is full of journeys, good and bad, so it is important to move forward and open new doors, because you never know what is waiting for you behind closed doors.
